FCT Administration proposes 30,000 housing units for staff

The Federal Capital Territory Administration has said plans are underway to build 30,000 housing units for the staff.

Minister of state for FCT, Dr Ramatu Aliyu, during assessment tour of projects in Karshi, said the scheme would be coordinated by the Satellite Towns Development Department ,STDD,

In a statement issued by Austine Elemue, Special Assistant on (media) to the minister, said the housing scheme is being planned to cover staff of FCT Administration and the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) in Karshi area.

She explained that the initiative was to provide affordable housing for the staff and make them committed to their work.

Though there was no specific date for commencement, but the minister said the developers are committed to the realization of the project soon.

The statement said, “First and foremost the Karshi tour is to assess the affordable housing project designed for the staff of the FCTA/FCDA.

“FCT Administration is committed to affordable housing as mandated by the President, there is a provision for affordable housing for indigenous people and residents of the Federal Capital Territory across the six area councils”

The Director of Housing, FCT Satellite Towns Development Development, Usman Bala, explained that the project would be completed within 24 months.

He said, “The modalities are in place to ensure that staff of the administration are beneficiaries of the scheme”.
