FCT Polls: PDP captures AMAC, Kuje, Bwari, APC retains Kwali, Gwagwalad, Abaji

The Independent National Electoral Commission *INEC( has declared the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Christopher Zakka, winner of Saturday’s Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC)

INEC, while declaring Zakka winner, said that the PDP candidate pulled a total of 19, 302 to defeat his closest rival, the candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Murtal Usman, who pulled 13,240 votes.

There are 12 wards in AMAC, including Gwagwa, City Centre, Garki, Kabusa, Wuse, Gwarinpa, Jiwa, Gui, Karshi, Orozo, Karu and Nyanya.

 However, the All Progressives Congress (APC) won in only Wuse and Karshi wards, leaving the PDP to win the remaining 10 wards.

The candidate of the People’s Democratic Party PDP, Mr John Gabaya has been declared winner of the Chairmanship election in Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory FCT.

It was also victory for the PDP in Bwari Area Council, where  Returning Officer for Chairmanship Election in Bwari Professor Amuche Madu declared yje incumbent chairman Mr Gabaya, re elected

Gabayat polled 13045 voted to defeat his closest rival Mr Haruna Shekwolo of All Progressives Congress APC who scored 7697.

The PDP was also declared winner in Kuje Area Council, the incumbent Chairman, Suleiman Sabo PDP garnering a total of 13,301, as against 7, 694 voted that was gathered by Sarki Hamidu of the APC – 7,694, as declared by INEC Returning Officer of the area, Sule Magaji

The All progressive Congress, APC’s Danladi Chiya, was re elected in Kwali area council Chairmanship election with a slim margin, having polled a total of 7646 against his closest rival of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Mr Haruna Pai who scored 7345.

The Returning officer of the election, Professor Wesley Daniel Nafarnda of University of Abuja made the declaration at the INEC Office in Kwali Abuja.

The APC candidate in Gwagwalada Area Council, Jibrin Abubakar, was also re elected with a total number of 11,125 votes

Returning Officer  for the election, Prof. Illiyasu Umar, announced that the PDP candidate Mohammed Kasim, came second with a total number of 9, 597 votes
