Late arrivals of electoral materials stir anger in Lugbe

By Daniel Tyokua

Voters at Lugbe car wash in Abuja were visibly angry over late arrivals of electoral materials in the polling unit.

Most of the voters turned out early for accreditation and voting but were shocked that officials of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) arrived with materials at 1.30pm, which stirred anger among the voters that were waiting for hours.

Sani Salihu, Abdullahi Ahmed and Remi John expressed disappointment over the delay arrival of the voting materials.

According to them, the development was aimed at frustrating their efforts to cast their vote early and return home.

Abdullahi Ahmed said: ” Today is general election that I believe is well planned, so why should electoral materials arrive late in a polling unit?

“It does not show well on the INEC, keeping us here since in the morning is stirring anger” he said.

Some of the INEC officials on ground refused to speak with journalists, “we are not in position to speak to journalists on any issue here”.
