Lobi Stars football club of Makurdi will soon return to their Makurdi base to play their home matches, thanks to the team’s owners, Benue State Government, which assured that facilities at the Aper Aku Stadium will soon be fixed so as to enable Lobi Stars Football Club resume her home matches at the Aper Aku Stadium.
Mr. Terkimbi Ikyange, Commissioner for Youth, Sports and Creativity gave the assurance, Monday when he led the Vice Chairman of Lobi Stars Football Club, Mr. Dominic Iorfa on a thank you visit to the Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe in Lafia.
The Commissioner noted that the Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia was not comfortable that home matches of Lobi Stars FC were being played outside the State Capital adding that the development has denied fans of the Club the opportunity to watch their darling team play for so long.
He said efforts are on, though behind the scene to completely resuscitate the dilapidated sporting facilities at the Stadium noting that the inspection visit he undertook to the Aper Aku Stadium immediately he assumed the office was geared towards ascertaining the State of the facilities for prompt action.
Mr. Ikyange, on behalf of the Benue State Government appreciated the Nasarawa State Government for allowing Lobi Stars Football Club of Makurdi to play her home matches at the Lafia City Stadium noting that the gesture is a testimony of the cordial relationship that exists between the government and people of the two States.
Responding, the Deputy Governor of Nasarawa state, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe promised sustained support for the team as long as it continues to use the Lafia City Stadium and thanked the Youth, Sports and Creativity Commissioner for the visit.
On his part, Vice Chairman of Lobi Stars Football Club, Mr. Dominic Iorfa, said his Team will ever be grateful to Nasarawa state government for the goodwill towards the Club, while the Nasarawa state Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Mr. Jafaru Ango, promised to partner with his Benue State counterpart for the development of sports in the two States.
