Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has declared that effective service delivery is mandatory for public office holders, urging newly sworn-in appointees to justify the confidence reposed in them through dedicated service and measurable performance.
Among those inaugurated at the Banquet Hall of TY Danjuma House in Jalingo was the new Solicitor-General and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Justice, Barr. Sunday Ibrahim Maikarfi, alongside hundreds of other government appointees who took the oath of office and pledged allegiance to the Kefas administration.
Addressing the appointees after administering the oath of office, the governor described their appointments as both an honour and a call to national service, stressing that they had been entrusted with responsibilities that demanded commitment, integrity and accountability.
He urged them to strengthen the institutions under their supervision and improve public service delivery, noting that governance requires hard work, courage, patience and a strong sense of responsibility.
According to the governor, sustainable development can only be achieved through collective effort rather than personal ambition.
Governor Kefas also charged the newly inaugurated members of the Taraba State Independent Electoral Commission (TSIEC) to ensure that their credibility remained unquestionable in order to build public confidence in the state’s electoral process.
He directed members of the Local Government Service Commission to work towards building an efficient and responsive local government system capable of meeting the needs of the people, while urging members of the Anti-Corruption Commission to uphold transparency and accountability in the discharge of their duties.
The governor further advised the newly appointed Special Advisers, Senior Special Assistants and Special Assistants to make their offices centres of innovation and productivity by understanding their mandates and delivering tangible results.
He called on all the appointees to rise above ethnic, religious, political and personal differences, emphasizing that leadership is defined by responsibility and the ability to deliver meaningful results.
Governor Kefas assured the officials of his administration’s support but reminded them that they would also be held accountable for their performance. He urged them to conduct themselves with integrity, fairness and determination to build a lasting legacy for future generations.
Responding on behalf of the appointees, Chairman of the Taraba State Independent Electoral Commission, Job Bala Aji, thanked the governor for the confidence placed in them and pledged that they would faithfully uphold their oath of office and discharge their responsibilities with dedication.
Those inaugurated include the Chairman and members of the Taraba State Independent Electoral Commission (TSIEC), the Solicitor-General and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Justice, the Commissioner of the Local Government Service Commission, members of the Anti-Corruption Commission, as well as Special Advisers, Senior Special Assistants and Special Assistants to the Governor.
Speaking with journalists shortly after the ceremony, the new Solicitor-General and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Justice, Barr. Sunday Ibrahim Maikarfi, expressed gratitude to Governor Kefas for the opportunity to serve. He said he was overwhelmed by the governor’s confidence in him and prayed for the continued success and sustainability of the administration.
