The Nigeria Immigration Service and the Repatriation and Departure Service (R&DS) of the Kingdom of the Netherlands have strengthened their partnership with the donation of specialised equipment to the NIS Hostmanship Unit.
The equipment was presented during a ceremony at the Service Headquarters, Abuja, on Monday.
Receiving the items on behalf of the Service, the Comptroller-General of Immigration, KN Nandap, pcc, fsmn, described the gesture as another landmark in over two decades of collaboration between the NIS and the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
She said the equipment represents a strategic investment in institutional excellence, professionalism, and a culture of courtesy, empathy, and outstanding service.
According to the CGI, the donation will further enhance the Unit’s training capacity and operational efficiency.
She expressed confidence that it would also aid the institutionalisation of the Hostmanship philosophy across the Service.
The Hostmanship philosophy, she explained, is built on inspiring every officer to make people feel welcomed, respected, and valued at every point of contact.
Also speaking at the event, the Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Abuja, Mr. Ronald Sonnemans, described the partnership as a model of sustained international cooperation.
He reaffirmed the Netherlands’ commitment to supporting initiatives that strengthen migration management and institutional capacity in Nigeria.
The collaboration between both institutions has, to date, resulted in the training of hundreds of NIS officers and the creation of a dedicated Hostmanship Unit.
The efforts have been sustained under the European Union-funded Capacity Building and Relationship Management, CBR, Project.
The Service extended gratitude to the Government of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the R&DS for their consistent support, and reaffirmed its commitment to the judicious use of the donated equipment.
