The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike has said funds for paying committed contractors handling road projects in Abuja will not be a problem.
He stated this on Wednesday after inspecting 11 kilometre Yangoji-Sukuku road, Kwaita-Yebu road, resurfacing of Dutse-Usuman dam road and Ushafa-Army road.
Wike explained that he was impressed with the level of work done so far, and will ensure that funding is not a problem for the contractors.
The minister said the road projects being executed in rural areas is an indication that the renewed hope agenda was alive, and is working .
He commended the contractors for quality job, saying despite the heavy rains the contractors heep to the standard.
Wike said, “I’m really impressed with the level of work. And I’m going to do everything to make sure that funding is not a problem to them. When you see contractors who are committed, we on our part as government, we will also carry out our own obligation.
“What amazes me is the length of roads, particularly as it will have positive impact on these communities. I can’t believe what I’ve seen. But I thank almighty God that the renewed hope agenda is alive, and is working. The performance of the contractors is impressive.
“On the performance of the contractors, we had heavy rains this year. And we gave them December to complete this project. But you can see the level of job they have done.
“I’m really impressed. And I’m going to do everything to make sure that funding is not a problem to them”
Wike also explained that government cannot solve all problems but the important thing is for the people to feel the impact.
“Government cannot solve all problems. Even if you are in office for 20 years, there will still be problems. But what is important is that people can see that efforts are being made to reduce their burden”.
