Imo 2027: Madumere under pressure to run governorship, senatorial election

From Everest Ezihe, Owerri

Impressed by his humanitarian and political activities, a revered sociopolitical group in Nigeria, Journey Of Mercy is seriously mounting pressure on Prince Eze Madumere to make up his mind to vye for either the Governorship of Imo State or Owerri Zone Senatorial seat in the nation’s Red Chamber’s ahead of 2027 general elections.

As if the well funded sociopolitical organization is not alone, so many other groups including eminent personalities, for the past few months have added their voice in the clamour for the former Deputy Governor of Imo State who hails from Achi Mbieri in Mbaitoli LGA of Imo State to take a decisive stand and run either the gubernatorial election or for the Senatorial seat in the forthcoming political dispensation.

Ironically, they all are singing the same political tune, saying that Prince Eze Madumere has the patriotic vision, doggedness and the intellectual drive to consolidate on the gains of Governor Hope Uzodimma’s Shared Prosperity transformational and developmental strides.

These proponents were not hesitant in citing Madumere’s distinguished records of probity, transparency and accountability in public service, as well as his unwavering commitments in humanitarian and philanthropic services.

Many political observers also pointed out that his brand is always been defined by loyalty, a peace-loving disposition, and a profound understanding of the state’s socio-economic and political complexities.

As the conversation regarding Governor Hope Uzodimma’s successor intensifies, the narrative favouring Prince Madumere continues to gain significant momentum.

However, it seems obvious that the public demand is not merely for a candidate, but for a seasoned statesman who can bridge political divides and foster inclusive growth both at the State and Senatorial levels.

Meanwhile, as the electoral cycle approaches, Prince Eze Madumere, MFR, finds himself at a significant political crossroads but willing and passionate to be elected in the 2027 general elections.

While a vast coalition across the twenty seven local government areas of Imo demands he enters the gubernatorial race, an equally formidable movement from the nine (9) local government areas of Owerri Zone is urging him to channel his ambitions toward the Senate (Red Chamber), ahead of 2027.

This second group of advocates now seen at every quarter within the state are calling upon him to get prepared to represent the people of Owerri Zone in the nation’s Red Chambers, citing his immense legislative potentials and intimidating network of contacts.

Consequently, the former Imo State Deputy Governor faces a dual leadership demand, as the electorate(s) weighs his capacity to serve as either the next Chief Executive of the State or a high-ranking lawmaker in the National Assembly.

Certainly, the ball is his court as the pressure continues to mount.
