CDCFIB’s disciplinary actions: 15 Nigerian correctional service personnel dismissed

The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) has concluded its deliberations on 231 disciplinary cases involving personnel of the Nigerian Correctional Service. After thorough investigations and due process, the Board approved various disciplinary measures to enforce discipline and uphold the integrity of the Service.

The disciplinary actions include:
15 personnel dismissed from the Service for serious misconduct and violation of Service regulations; 59 officers reduced in rank for confirmed breaches of professional standards; 42 personnel issued written warning letters as a corrective measure; eight personnel compulsorily retired from the Service; one officer’s rank reversed with a directive to refund all earnings received while wrongly holding the rank; one officer suspended from duty and recommended for prosecution by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC); seven staff members currently on suspension pending further investigation; and 16 personnel exonerated after being found not guilty of the allegations made against them.

The CDCFIB, under the leadership of Hon. Minister of Interior Dr. Olubunmi Tunde Ojo, reiterated its commitment to maintaining high ethical and professional standards across all cadres. The Controller General of Corrections, Sylvester Nwakuche, assured that disciplinary actions will continue to be handled with fairness and in strict compliance with extant rules and procedures.
