The Mandate Secretary of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) Education Secretariat, Dr. Danlami Hayyo, has warned contractors involved in constructing and rehabilitating schools across the six Area Councils against delivering subpar projects.
He stated that using sub-standard materials, unqualified personnel, and compromising specifications contribute to shoddy projects.
Speaking at an interactive meeting in Abuja, on Friday, with the 33 approved contractors, Hayyo emphasized that FCT Minister Nyesom Wike will not tolerate poor workmanship or complaints.
He instructed contractors to liaise with school heads and project coordinators when executing projects.
Hayyo assured contractors that the administration will provide necessary support they need, saying all contractors have received a 15 percent mobilization fee and urged those yet to sign the Memorandum of Understanding to visit the Legal Secretariat for signing.
Although Hayyo didn’t disclose a flag-off date, but said it would be decided by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.
Hayyo said: “We need to interact with contractors about project deadlines and how they can handle students because schools are currently in session. We want them to liaise with school principals and project coordinators on procedures.
“The administration under Minister Nyesom Wike will not accept poor work. Let projects be solid and stand the test of time. Please don’t disappoint me.”
