The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has asked the contractor handling the access road to the FCT Fire Service Station (Arterial Road SI) in Gaduwa District to extend the project to connect with Oladipo Diya Road.
He said the additional link is crucial to maximising the road’s economic and developmental benefits.
Wike gave the directive on Friday while inspecting the ongoing construction of the access road from Ring Road II to Oladipo Diya Way in Gaduwa District.
The project also comprises one collector road, two important local streets and a minor access road.
The minister, who expressed satisfaction with the quality of work, said the bridge, which was under construction during his last visit, has now been completed. However, he stressed that the project would be more meaningful if the road is extended to Oladipo Diya Road.
Wike also assured the contractor of prompt payment for completed work to enable faster execution of the project and ensure the December completion deadline is met.
He said , the road is a strategic infrastructure that will transform the landscape of the area, stimulate property development and create employment opportunities.
He expressed confidence that the contractor would deliver the project on schedule, adding that the FCT Administration remains committed to providing the necessary support to ensure its timely completion.
” I have told the contractor that the road should be extended to connect with Oladipo Diya Road.
“They have assured us that the project will be completed and handed over by December. What I am not certain about is whether the extension will be included, but I am putting pressure on them because it is very important for the overall value of the project.
“This road is very important. Once completed, it will completely change the topography and landscape of this area. The immediate beneficiaries will be real estate developers because wherever roads are provided, development follows. As buildings come up, more jobs are created for our people,” Wike said.
