Husband,Wife and three Children die mysteriously in Enugu

Medical experts at University of Nigeria Teaching hospital,UNTH,Ituku Ozalla,near Enugu are currently battling to recuperate the life of Master Arinze Onyekwelu from his state of unconsciousness, as the corpse of his father,Mr Chukwumalu Onyekwelu,mother and three children were brought to National Orthopaedic hospital,Enugu for a post mortem and deposition at the hospital mortuary,thereafter.

The dead bodies of the late Chukwumalu Obiekwelu and his family were found in their house at Amokwe Nike,a serene community in Enugu East local government area on Wednesday,April 30,by his younger brother Ugochukwu Chukwumalu and his staff Ugwu Paul Chibuike,broke into their house,as a last resort since nobody ascertained their Whereabout while their phone rang ceaselessly without response for three days.

The cause of their death awaits the outcome of the post moterm tests conducted by the authorities of National Ofthopaedic hospital but it was oberved that the dead bodies were swollen and skins peeling off already.

Mr Eze Sunday, a mason who works with the late Mr Chukwumalu,told news men that his late boss talked with him on phone on Monday evening,April 27,and instructed him to call back on Tuesday,so that he will give him schedule of duty.But suprisingly,he never picked any of his calls upto Wednesday when he decided to contsct the younger brother to his wife,Mr Ugwu Paul Chibuike,at Timber Shed axis of Enugu metropolis, where he resides.

Ugwu Paul Sunday said on getting to his late inlaws house,they found the house under lock and key but he decided to peep into the glass windows and eventually found the entire family in one room,with the husband hand stretched scross the wife and children,as they knelt down in the same room.

At that point, he raised his voice and eas compelled to broke the front door through which they entered into the house.However,they found the first son of the man,Arinze Obiekwelu,about ten years of age,still breathing and sought medicare for him at various hospitals until he was finally admitted at UNTH,Enugu.

The Chairman of Enugu East local government area where Amokwe Nike is located,Hon Alex Ugwu told news men he instantly responded when the news of the incidence got to him on Wednesday,April 29 by putting a call across to the State commissioner for health,Professor Obi Emmanuel Ikechukwu,who immediately mobilised health officials to their house.

He disclosed the health workers on arrival,battled to secure hospital admission for the unconscious Arinze Obikwelu finally at UNTH,after several other hospitals within the environment rejected to admit him,obviously for fear of COVID-19.

The Enugu East chairman,Hon Alex Ugwu described the incident as very unfortunate but expressed confidence that the cause of their mysterious death would be revealed in the cause of police invesyigation.

The Enugu State police command is yet to comment on the matter.The State Public relations officer(PPRO),Mr Dan Ndukwe when contacted on the issue,promised to get back to news men, But yet to do so,as at the time of filing this report.
